i found an interesting site for design resources,
RitaSueSiegelResources.com, which also has a few job postings for industrial designers.
"The Book of Revelation states all people will be required to "receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark." (Rev. 13: 16-17)"

Solar Power : : Einstein was awarded the Nobel prize in Physics 1921 for research on the "photoelectric effect" - presentation speech here - and laid the basics for the Photo Voltaic industry that is only 25 years old now. Siemens is working on PV technology preparing solar systems that integrate with 'the grid'. You can read more about the history of PV here.
INTEL : : Researchers Build World's Fastest Silicon
SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 11, 2001 - Intel Corporation researchers have demonstrated that there are no fundamental barriers to extending Moore's Law for another decade by building the world's fastest silicon transistors. These transistors -- featuring structures just 20 nanometers (nm) in size -- will allow Intel to build microprocessors containing a billion transistors, running at speeds approaching 20 gigahertz and operating at less than one volt in approximately 2007.
INTEL : : To produce world's smallest transistors: 0.13 Micron on a 300 MM Wafer
On a production unit basis, 300 mm wafer manufacturing will use 40 percent less energy and water per chip than a 200 mm wafer factory. This technology allows the company to manufacture chips with circuitry that is so small it would take almost 1000 of these "wires" placed side-by-side to equal the width of a human hair. This advanced process technology will enable high performance microprocessors that can contain more than 100 million transistors and run at multi-GHz clock speeds.

Some more details: Senate Wants To Ban Space Advertising More on the 'space advertising bill'. "In 1993, a Gerogia-based company, Space Marketing Inc., announced plans to launch square mile size billboards made from mylar sheets into low orbit. Logos about the size of the moon would have been visible to millions of people on earth. Strong public opposition caused them to withdraw their plan." More dated stuff from Oct. 2000, when space station MIR was looking for sponsors. Dennis Tito's style of space advertising still seems the most effective. Mega-publicity. Wednesday, June 13, 2001

Everyone's in Toronto...
"It used to be an extremely quiet city," said Marisa Roca, the owner of Sotto Sotto. "Not any more. Nowadays we stay open until midnight, even one in the morning. It's alive now." A father defends video games - better for the kids to be safe at home. A brother helps his sister find a decent guy. She doesn't know he is reporting on all her dates on his infamous website thespark.com. What she thinks is that he's only doing a site Melissa and the City where she rates Boston's coolest haunts. "He's essentially hiding behind scientific uncertainties and his interpretation of climate science is fantasy at best and deliberately misleading at worst". more with Bush Frigid on Global Warming
Tactel has developed in colaboration with TDK a Bluetooth clip on for Palm that can help the PDAs communicated with other devices without cables : : They also manufacture Tactel Sword - that enables Bluetooth support for PCs. Not yet in production. Tactel is also involved in MMS development, a new SMS standard. MMS stands for: Multimedia Messaging Service. The management team : Consists of a bunch of hooligans who by their sheer persistence and pig-headedness have managed to make something of their lives. It's a miracle really. Per had to be dragged away from the kitchen - food is his first love. Tomas from the golf course, Marcus from his family's beloved boat yard and goodness only knows about Mikael. SMS : : Summary
This article from Wired News explains why SMS is not used in North America. Nokia, Motorola and Erricson are working together to develop software for SMS that would allow communication inbetween networks with different standards. InfoSpace is also working on the problem. McAteer predicts that SMS services will take off by 2003 in this part of the world. "(Teenagers) are the innovators in this space," McAteer said. "The youth market in the U.S. for cellular services is considerably smaller than other markets."
SUCK has shut down.
As has Feed. Plastic.com is run by the same company as Suck and works in a similar way to Slashdot, where registered users contribute to the site. So early sites continue to die away - like Word last year. more on SMS hmm, okay :: some more info on SMS in N. America thay might answer a few of the questions posted below.
--> Feel like spray painting some walls?
Do it in Barcelona. --> The Finnish net-art collective katastro.fi's webpage also has a new design. 'Katastrofi' is the Finnish word for 'catastrophe', but the site is in English. --> Avanto - the Helsinki New Media Art Festival - is arranged for the second time this November. --> If you'd asked me two weeks ago what I'd be doing this week, I would've said 'Going to the Sonar festival in Barcelona'. Unfortunately, I can't go after all. Anyhow, Sonar, the 8th Barcelona Progressive Music and Multimedia Art Festival starts Wednesday June 14. The site promises that you can "Live the festival as though you were there". Sure. |
