helsinki news
vacations are starting. July is the typical month of vacations here and is part of the mandatory 30 day vacation for all employees in Finland. :) Read an article yesterday in Newsweek discussing legal vacation days. US - 0 Belgium - 20 France - 25 (or so...) Finland - 30 (yeaaay) The article went on further with a graph comparing the average work hours in America compared with European countries. Yes, they work hard in the US, but are all those hours put to good use?... The last study was a direct comparison between US and France - - hours to productivity. France was higher. (more wine and love i tell you) I begin my vacation now. :) see you toronto boys next week... Thursday, June 28, 2001

A woman we all admire : : Toronto based industrial designer Helen Kerr sees potential for beauty - in the most ordinary and hardworking of household objects (Toronto Star : Monday / June 25 / 2001)
"Design is everywhere, in every aspect of life," says Helen Kerr. Yet "we tend not to notice it, unless it's bad."

At least [d] should be interested in this message I got from Habbo:
"PLASTIC POWER :: Great news - especially for overseas Habbos - we now accept credit cards! Whoo hoo! So now there's nothing to stop you buying shed loads of Creds (how poetic!) and making a truly awesome room. (Of course you don't need to buy any Credits at all - you'll still be welcome in the hotel.)" |
