Hey this is idgrid, short form for a grid of ideas. We
want this to be like an online sketchbook supported by people from cross-disciplines who are interested in sharing ideas and process. We've got a news section which is intended to be anything you feel like posting. _project is all about building a discussion and coming up with new ideas for projects or eventual products. The results of the _project will be printed out in seasons giving an overview to what's possible with the tools we have. So far we've been collaborating with Toronto, Canada and Helsinki, Finland. contact us if you'd like to be involved. Thursday, August 16, 2001

history : : 1971 : : the beginning of the gutenberg philosophy
Project Gutenberg began in 1971" ..."At any rate, Michael decided there was nothing he could do, in the way of "normal computing," that would repay the huge value of the computer time he had been given. . .so he had to create $100,000,000 worth of value in some other manner. An hour and 47 minutes later, he announced that the greatest value created by computers would not be computing, but would be the storage, retrieval, and searching of what was stored in our libraries. " ... Copyright © 1971-2000 Project Gutenberg project gutemberg is to this date, the largest database available to the public for free; a collection of text files of books too old to be copyrighted. feel free to download whatever you need/find from the home of the project gutemberg, located now @ www.gutemberg.org ; all files are in "Plain Vanilla ASCII" meaning - no funny chars.

:: tech_2, Bristol, UK ::
"tech_2 Bristol is an 8 day gathering of technical and content creating collectives from the UK and around the world creating independent online and offline spaces for independent publishing, community communications, and socially conscious networking." Comments :: Marita Liulia and SOB (Son of a Bitch, a follow-up to her previous work Ambitious Bitch) are uninteresting, poorly made semi-art. Just a warning. F2F also includes NEED by Tuomo Tammenpää - [j] talked of this very early on in these idgrid-discussions - before we went Blogger. katastro.fi gets up to some interesting stuff. Sometimes it reminds me of things we try to get up to. Koneisto's site is worth a look (this not by katastro.fi) - created by mssrs. Teemu Suviala and Antti Hinkula. :: and a Q Was Iceborg ever there? Never got it to work on my PC. :: Citizenship :: Are you or will you ever be a member of Cyber-Yugoslavia. -- I thought I was, but after a search I noticed I'm not. Guess I hadn't figured out an appropriate Ministry for myself yet. In Cyber-Yugoslavia everyone gets to have their own Ministry. Nervous again :: Nervousness.org was more teeny than what I thought at first sight, but still, it's useful to know such a site exists. Sunday, August 12, 2001
