The difficulty of changing your mind - espescially if you've stated your opinion in public: War of the Words (The Guardian).
Reviews of the year have begun: Salon.com considers 2001 a good movie-year.
Village Voice has a look at the future of flight attendants and judging by the report of one flight attendant the future is bleak.

superheroes obsolete?
All following quotes from Sunday Times article Oct. 28, 2001(the stuff in between is me):
Scot plans to make Batman hang cape
"The real heroes in the world are those guys who ran into the collapsing buildings of the World Trade Center trying to save lives," says comic book writer Grant Morrison. "Spiderman and Superman weren't there".
I was wondering how the New York superheroes would react. Evidently Morrison intends to show us. I believe the inability to stop the destructive terrorist attacks clearly would force superheroes to reëvaluate their mission.
"I've already started writing X-Men as a pacifist comic," Morrison adds saying goodbye to fisticuffs. His sentiments are echoed by Marvel's editor-in-chief:
"The de-costuming of heroes is a trend we've been heading towards at Marvel this year. Marvel's heroes have always been much more powered down than our competitors', so they deal with threats and life on a much more human level." Another Scottish comics writer Mark Millar predicts 'evolution and maturation' in superhero comics. This requires a visit at the comics shop.
