:: exhibiting _project
One more thought on exhibiting the stuff...
Since everything will be scanned it'll all be visible online, but since the materials we send are physical it seems appropriate to show the stuff in an actual space too. Or?

some ideas from an email to [j]:
Postcards are suitable for sending messages exploring more than just cities. We have a few themes that have been discussed that could be explored in postcards too... But that's for a later time.

An idea for undefined future:
If postcards were hanged in exhibition space that could be done using string attached to roof so that they'd dangle and both sides would be visible to the person walking into the postcards...

We talked more with [j] about exhibiting _project. I think the biggest reason for exhibiting is to inspire people to communicate and share their experiences using something they make themselves. Should discuss further how to inspire them. Like [j] wrote to me: "Could be something they pick up at Kiasma - or a tourism shop - or at an exhibition space."

Did we already discuss the possibility of filling up a space other than one in Helsinki or Toronto. Gradually via mail materials would arrive Helsinki/Toronto creating an impression of that city.

I really liked greg's ideas.
Could those be experimented in our home towns?
So I'd experiment in Helsinki and then send what I capture to Toronto.

I'm trying not to write about what's in the mail to Toronto so as not to spoil the receiver's surprise. We'll make more mail next week.

[l] and i were talking last night over dinner
about pushing the _project futher. The
interesting thing about the next few weeks
postings are the conditions -> that its
toronto to helsinki and back, mailing to
people who we've never met before: so
making more social connections between the
two cities while exchanging experiences
and city recipies.

Then the futher we go, it'll be possible to have exhibitions
of the work, a large amount of postings hanging
from string for people to read. Or new proposals
for kits or inspirational packages for travellers.
Or more connections between cities and other
community services.
or...

whee :)

Hey! Look what I found:
http://www.nervousness.org/
"Nervousness.org is our online presence, where we try experiments in Land Mail (also known as Snail Mail), to see if we can find new ways for people to interact and communicate. We encourage your participation!"
Sounds kinda familiar...

posting party
There was an idgrid posting party at Luotsikatu 9e 14 in Helsinki
a few nights ago. Eight people attended for food, wine, and
sent out 19 posts. Should reach Toronto in about a weeks time.

It was interesting to see the different variations of messages
sent. Opens up some new ideas to explore -> perhaps going
further in the parties coming up before the 21st. :)
Posts to follow. This is getting interesting..
