[j] asked: "How about descriptions of Helsinki as a city being changed by technology?"
Now that's Wired you're thinking of. Here's that description. 'Grey Toronto' has changed in my mind to something else. The change happened when we had a meeting in Habbo and [j] was explaining something about Toronto's multi-culturalism. Then [d] comes in a little late connecting to the internet from a Chinese Internet cafe. Now my Toronto is a Chinese internet cafe. Getting closer, eh? 6.9.01
cards becoming trendy "More personal than e-mail, Phaidon's box set of postcards are the ultimate micro-art experience. Choose from the South Southeast, Dog or Art boxes, £13 each." (Sept. edition of Vogue)
city recipe
:: toronto and helsinki Two cities being exchanged, one young and one old. A few people have mentioned to me about the typical "grey" colour of buildings which usually represent Toronto in their tourist images. And Helsinki is usually shown as an old city which seems to stand still. Where are the descriptions of Toronto's 118 cultural mosaics? How about descriptions of Helsinki as a city being changed by technology? How would these descriptions look and send to people abroad? 3.9.01
this was something from [d] which started our explorations
of postcards going further than a 2D piece of card. It had instructions on opening, and went from a large plan view of Ottawa into a more micro environment once the layers were opened, giving more than just one view of the city. I mailed a few prototype packages to toronto yesterday. we've started to develop new games or experiences that can be sent by mail, and have been experimenting with new materials and seeing how they can record our city recipes.
