:: aula collaboration project
i went yesterday to digifest thanks to martti. very nice of him. very nice. many good speakers and many good ideas. i got there around 3:00 PM right on time for a Macromedia Flash MX demo - a short version of the seminar held a day earlier. it was also interesting to see the product presented to different audiences. one was the presentation for the production/designers crowd at the seminar and another was the mixed technical/artist crowd at the digifest.
the focus was on the fixing the web, and making use of all this great technology to make the experience more rewarding and useful. the investment vs. output/outcome be it time, money or effort was running through all presentations. there was not one general theory or solution for problems or challenges - but rather taking an analytical approach, and figuring what part (of the digital engine) can be applied to make something run.
collaboration. and on-line collaboration was another big focus. instant reward and realtime interaction. the term of live by soda.co.uk with their creations. again - it came to a obvious difference between European and north American approach to the web. the Europeans are very experimental - and considering the Internet as a potential money making and connecting medium. their speeches (soda and painstation) were sustained by very elegant explanations connected to the outside world. north American speakers (and companies) are very focused on the application of technology to business - and very persuasive in convincing about their technology/capacity.
:: from all this I was thinking part of the contribution for toronto|helsinki idgrid project for aula can be something named designburger. this would be a interactive presentation - where one chooses the medium (bread), than the content (the stuffing), the audience (the eater) ... and then feeds the burgers to the audience (send to a friend) . now it would be interesting to add sound to it. this way you could eat karim's garbo can layered with a bmw door and a swiss army knife and see how it tastes. add some mayo perhabs. if you want to eat prada pants with nokia phones - etc... it is virtually possible - and it will makes for interesting cooking. i know jeremiah has an interest in foods. darryl has an interest in flash. we all have good (welll) ideas together. it's all about global cookin'. and stylin. of course.

Aula collaboration project
Things have been quiet lately while we still work out this new collaboration project. The general idea is there: to have multiple organizations contributing to one source. Responsibilities will be distributed, but from the last meeting we were leaning towards giving the final duties of distribution / sales etc. left up to the organizations themselves.
Some conclusions from the meetings were that the project is the product - that's where the main interest lies. It will take a physical form of a publication, hopefully with input from idgrid (toronto/helsinki), underfund (sweden), aula (helsinki) and one group from tokyo.
contact - [d]toronto and [j]helsinki - for updates on the project.
